Slaithwaite & Marsden Action on Rail Transport (SMART) is active in
trying to promote better train services for local people trying to use
the train services for work and leisure.
We continue to campaign for step-free access at Marsden and Slaithwaite
stations.
Our current (2025) focus is on ensuring that the Transpennine Route
Upgrade (TRU) delivers tangible improvements in train services at
Slaithwaite & Marsden, specifically an increase to two trains per hour
throughout the day, and for the service pattern on completion to include
through trains from Slaithwaite & Marsden to Leeds.
