Popular with walkers, cyclists and people navigating barges along the picturesque banks, the canal is at the heart of the Colne Valley’s leisure space.
Follow the towpath with its many locks and fine views to Marsden, a three mile walk, stopping off at Zapato Brewery along the way with its spacious beer garden and fine craft beers. Head to Standedge Tunnel another mile beyond Marsden to see the Visitor Centre and Watersedge Cafe - see map below c/o the Canal & River Trust.
Or head eastbound towards Huddersfield, passing Titanic Mill at Linthwaite, now an eco-spa and head through Milnsbridge on the 5 mile stretch towards the University of Huddersfield and town centre.
